The first
time I entered the Astrodome was in 1974.** The
KING proudly enters the HOUSTON ASTRODOME on Sunday,
March 3, 1974, in a bright RED Chevy Blazer. I watched
Elvis that night, and eventually got to meet him after
the show with my Grandmother, who was a close friend
of Elvis and a songwriter with Acuff Rose publishing
in Nashville. Since that show, and the many, many
shows that I saw in the Astrodome, I had always dreamed
of someday playing in on that floor. When Reliant
Park was built next door to the dome and the Houston
Rodeo moved their operations there, I figured that was
a dream that had slipped away. in 2005, the Dome
was re-opened during the rodeo for the biggest rodeo
"after party" in the world. Almost exactly
31 years to the day , I was able to fulfill my dream
of playing the dome on March 5th, 2004, with Sheila
Marshall. Thank you SOOO much Sheila. You
are an angel.
AND, a shout out to
Brother Rick (His name really is Rick Brothers) , the
drum-dude for Gretchen Wilson, for being so kind.
See ya down the road brother.
Below are some shots from
the March 5th show. I hope you enjoy them.
